Ana Ivanovic Personal life

Ivanović was born in Belgrade in Serbia (which used to be in Yugoslavia). She watched tennis on television when she was 5 years old, and said, "I loved watching tennis on television, particularly Monica Seles." While she was growing up, the country was bombed by NATO, so she had to arrange her training to avoid this.She would even practice tennis in an empty swimming pool during the winter.

When she was 14 years old, she was asked what she dreamed of in tennis, she replied "To become the No. 1 magic player in the world." Her Serbian tennis instructor introduced her to a Swiss businessman who agreed to hire a coach and pay for Ivanović's training in Switzerland.

In 2007 she became an ambassador for the worldwide charitable organization UNICEF, saying "I'm also looking forward to going into the classroom and meeting many kids". Ivanović is also interested in fashion–she has modelled clothes and says "...I love to shop..

On September 8, 2007, Ivanović became a UNICEF National Ambassador for Serbia, alongside Aleksandar Đorđević, Jelena Janković and Emir Kusturica. She takes a special interest in the fields of education and child protection. Ivanović visited a primary school in Serbia during her inauguration and said that she is "also looking forward to going into the classroom and meeting many kids."

Ivanović confirmed in November 2008 that she was romantically involved with Spanish tennis player Fernando Verdasco, but it was reported that the relationship ended in January 2009. Ivanović was then in a relationship with Australia's golf player Adam Scott but their relationship apparently ended in August 2010.

Ivanović is currently in a relationship with Dan Taylor. Some of her best friends include close childhood family friend Novak Djokovic, whom she has known since the age of 5, and current ATP World No. 1 Rafael Nadal.

Ana Ivanovic was seen chilling with her boyfriend Adam Scott in one of her favorite countries, Spain. More precisely, they were hanging out on the island of Mallorca, where Ivanovic has a dream house.

She admires former No. 1 Roger Federer, for his professionalism on and off the court. They've met during the Wilson Player Party, Ivanovic interviewing Federer for the Tennis Channel, and after Federer won the French Open 2009. She admitted this during her press conference after defeating Samantha Stosur in her third round match in Wimbledon 2009.

Professional career


Ivanović made it to the final of the junior version of Wimbledon in 2004, but lost to Ukrainian player Kateryna Bondarenko. She became a professional tennis player in August 2003. She won the French Open in 2008 by beating Russian player Dinara Safina 2–0 in the final in Paris. Her prize for winning was a trophy and €1 million.

Ivanović has also played tennis for Serbia in an international competition called the Fed Cup. As of June 2008, she has played 10 matches and won seven of them
