Former French Open champion Ana Ivanovic will play at the 2011 PTT Pattaya Open, organisers said yesterday.
The former world No.1 from Serbia will join defending champion Vera Zvonareva of Russia in the US$220,000 tournament at the Dusit Thani, Pattaya from Feb 6-13.
It will be world No.17 Ivanovic's first appearance in Thailand. Second-ranked Zvonareva defeated Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn in the final last year.
Launched in 1991, the Pattaya Open will be celebrating its 20th anniversary on the WTA Tour next year.
Over the years, the tournament has welcomed a number of well-known players including current No.1 Caroline Wozniacki, Anna Kournikova, Martina Hingis, Conchita Martinez, Patty Schnyder and Agnieska Radwanska.
The tournament is one of the most popular stops on the WTA Tour and was voted the 2010 tournament of the year by the tour players.
